Report from the deputy chairman of the Soviet Purchasing Committee to the People’s Commissariat of Foreign Trade on the Committee’s work in the US between 1 January and 31 December 1943

…Goods were exported from the USA to other countries mostly through Lend-Lease. The 14th report of the Foreign Economic Division to the US Congress specifies the following breakdown of Lend-Lease exports by country:

  • United Kingdom – 42.3%;

  • USSR – 27.2%;

  • Africa and the Middle East – 15.2%;

  • China, India, Australia and New Zealand – 11.5%;

  • Latin American countries – 0.8%;

  • other regions – 3%.

As to 1943 Lend-Lease exports in absolute terms, the same report specifies:

  • Soviet Union – $2,888,115,000...

  • United Kingdom – $4,016,612,000;

  • Africa and Middle East – $1,586,654,000;

  • India – $534,723,000;

  • Australia and New Zealand – $515,332,000;

  • South American countries – $92,954,000.
